Mary grew up in the quaint suburbs of Bucks County, Pennsylvania. From an early age, she had a natural appreciation for all things beautiful. Inspired by the beauty and elegance of dance, she devoted her childhood to ballet, spending most of her time in the dance studio and on stage. A young Mary inspired by dance, travel, and love for elegant things later uncovered her passion for interior design.  

In her late teens, Mary moved to New York City where she attended New York School of Interior Design to pursue her dreams. After graduating, she started her interior design career working for Matthew Patrick Smyth. Mary then went on to join Erica Millar Design, where she spent 11 years honing her signature style of design. Mary attributes her style and love for design to to New York City for surrounding her with its rich architectural heritage, along with fashion, culture, and craft. With years of experience and influence, she had mastered the art of harmonizing comfort, sophistication, and elegance, which can be distinctly seen throughout her work. 

In 2017, Mary started Mary O’Neill Design, quickly becoming a familiar stand-alone name in the design world by creating awe-inspiring spaces that redefine the concept of luxury living as seen in many of her projects located all throughout New York City, The Hamptons, Miami, and spanning over to Colorado and California. Mary has also collaborated with an affordable housing developer to bring beauty to the community by reimagining and updating common spaces for over 50 New York City Public Housing Buildings, which both challenged her and allowed her to focus on a recurring vision: to transform spaces into personal sanctuaries that radiate splendor and grace. 

Mary O'Neill is more than just an interior designer; she is a wife, mother, and an artist who paints emotions on the canvas of space, a visionary who transforms houses into homes, and a beacon of inspiration for aspiring designers. Her story is one of ambition, dedication, and a relentless pursuit of excellence in the world of luxury interior design. Mary O'Neill is a name that will continue to shine brightly in the realms of design and innovation for years to come as she redefines her definition of beauty. 

Becoming a mother has brought a new light of inspiration and vitality to Mary’s creative process by actively being both, a teacher and a student of motherhood, allowing her design to encompass a new form of warmth and comfort.
